The Story of Mama Thandi
Mama Thandi began in 1994, when my mom, Thandi, decided to open her own little workshop. For 32 years, this place was practically her second home, surrounded by fabrics, threads, sewing, customers and countless hours of hard work.
I was just a year old when it all began. I grew up here, in the middle of the workshop, watching her work and slowly understanding the love and dedication she put into everything she did. So many of my childhood memories are connected to this place.
Over the years, I started helping her too. Today, at 62, my mom can no longer keep the same pace as before, and after so many years dedicated to Mama Thandi, she has finally decided to slow down a little.
That’s why I created this page, to help her share the last pieces we still have in the workshop. Some are among the final pieces available, and once they’re gone, they won’t be coming back.
It feels strange to see the shelves getting emptier, but it’s also beautiful to know that these pieces will continue to be part of other people’s lives.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about our story and for being part of Mama Thandi during this special chapter for us. 🤎
With love,
Thandi’s daughter
